Has it been a year?

What a year it's been. Never quite knew where that initial foray into the blogosphere exactly one year ago would lead me but it's turned out to be one incredible journey of self discovery, forging new friendships and refining my creative juices.

A special word of thanks to you, my readers, for sharing this trip with me. I especially look forward to the comments which come my way through comments left on the blog or via email. You have no idea how every little word of encouragement keeps me going. The coming year holds the promise of new and exciting projects which I hope would eventually end up here.

Birthday wishes to this simple blog of mine and a very happy new year to each and every one of you who make the stop here at Mr Sanguine's Home. Be well...

Christmas lunch

I know the posts have been a little scarce of late over here at mrsanguine.com but it's been an eventful couple of weeks with work and Mrs Sanguine's broken finger on my mind. Things have finally begun to settle down after the Christmas feeding frenzy and I thought it was high time I got back into the photography game. A couple of new projects lined up for the coming year but we'll start with a simple series of shots from my Christmas lunch.

In my line of work, it's a wonder whenever I get time off during any of the holidays. It was a real stroke of luck I managed to spend Christmas Day back at home this year. My good pals M and D opened up their home, cooked up this great huge feast and invited us freeloaders over for a lazy afternoon of grazing on many treats.

Chicken, duck, sausages, salads, ribs... the list was seemingly endless.

Not to make light of the main courses that were served, but we were certainly spoilt for choice when it came to the desserts. I counted 7 cakes, possibly more, that were brought out one after the other. This gorgeous fruit cake by D's mom took the cake (oops!). Lovingly made over 2 weeks ago, it's been bathed regularly with generous helpings of highly intoxicating brandy over the fortnight it sat in the refridgerator. I had a mild high after my second piece. Guess who ended up carting a third of the unfinished cake home? ;)

Not to be outdone was this equally delicious carrot cake, also by D's mom. Moist yet firm, like how every piece of carrot cake I've had this year have failed to be.

Nothing like hanging around a kitchen table stacked full of food.

Topped everything off with a generous serving of Gula melaka flavored ice cream from The Ice Cream Gallery. Good stuff.

Geri's Paintings

My pal Geri has been working at her paintings for the last couple of years and it's great to see how her works have evolved over time. Was down at her place taking some shots for her portfolio so I thought I'd share some of them here.
